Zhao Gang was born in Jinan in 1966, and is originally from Laizhou, Shandong Province of China. He is the vice president of the Qilu Painting and Calligraphy Research Institute, a member of the Art Committee of the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Research Institute, vice president of the Ciguang Painting and Calligraphy Research Institute, and executive director of the Jinan Multicultural Exchange Association.

Since childhood, Zhao Gang has been devoted to Danqing, learning painting with Liu Junsheng, Xiao Yu, Zhang Dengtang, Xie Wei Chu and other masters. He has always devoted himself to the study of traditional painting and painting theory, advocating the unity of painting and character, and injecting his spiritual perception of natural landscape into his works, expressing the innocence, goodness and beauty of nature. Whether it's the pine breeze, the forest and the waves of mist, they are all permeated with a clear, elegant, simple and hearty charm, giving people a beautiful feeling of returning to nature, away from the world.

In 1994, "Sketching on the Outer Ring Road of Quancheng" won the first prize in the Qilu Farmer Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition sponsored by the Provincial Agricultural Committee; in 1995, "Seeking Ghosts in Holiday" won the silver medal in the "Shandong Farmer Painting Exhibition" held in Beijing; in 1996, "Liu Bu Sightseeing" won the silver medal in the first Shandong Farmer Culture and Art Festival. In 1996, Zhao Gang's work "Liu Bu Scenery" won the silver medal in the First Shandong Peasant Culture and Art Festival, and successively published "Zhao Gang Calligraphy and Painting Collection", "Zhao Gang Painting Collection" and "Zhao Gang Landscape Painting". After 1997, Zhao Gang stopped participating in various competitions and activities, and focused entirely on the study and creation of landscape painting, dissolving his own comprehension of art and life on the basis of traditional techniques and striving to express the true meaning of art and life.
